So if I created a bookmark in a PDF of credit reports, that bookmark was also available in the menu when I was looking at a PDF of Bank Statements.

It is hard to find a one-to-one correlation for this program.

I would print all my bank and credit card statements, as well as yearly credit reprots to OneNote.

I would then go through and highlight or write notes on those items.

I also used OneNote to collect craft ideas and other neat things from various websites.

However, I found it lacks much of the functionality that I appreciate the real OneNote for.

I also discovered that copy paste doesnt work very well with images.

I tried to take a screen shot (Command control shift 3) and paste it into the notebook.

It wouldnt work. It didnt make a difference whether I was using OneNote in Chrome or in Safari.

If I cant paste web pages into OneNote online, it doesnt work for me.

I DO appreciate, however, that OneNote online maintains a feature that is rather hard to find in other programs.

You can still create text and items in individual boxes and then move the around and position them wherever you want.

Another thing to note for those who might be interested, is that Microsoft has a OneNote App for iPhone that synchronizes with this online version.

However, this quickly proved useless as I would have a direct way of printing to it from my browser.

Instead, when I found something I wanted to clip, I would have to fire up Virtual Box, start up a browser on the Virtual Box, go to the same URL, and then tell it to print to OneNote from that Windows environment.

That wasnt going to work for me, I needed something more native to the Mac.

The version I tried, I was unable to mark up a screen print or other image the way I could in OneNote.

Since that was one of the biggest criteria for me, I wasnt ready to pay for a program that didnt meet that need.

Evernote does have a browser plug in that lets you immediately save a page or selection to your notebook.

So that was a plus, but I didnt like the idea of synchronizing all my sensitive financial data with another company.

I also found that, like everything else I tried, Evernote was missing the functionality of marking up web clippings and so forth.

I didnt like that everything had to be in-line with everything else, much like a word processor.

When I explained my desire to be able to highlight and note files, he suggested the annotate feature in Preview a Mac PDF and image viewer.

It had the basics that I was looking for in terms of highlighting text and jotting notes, and things didnt have to be exactly in-line either.

However, Preview doesnt have the organizational structure that OneNote has.

You can merge PDF documents into one, which is nice, but the bookmark feature is a universal one and not tied to a single document.
